Responsibilities:

Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) is top technology provider in terms of mechanical, electronics, software and systems engineering. Our ambition is to be a world leader in serving our science customers and ensure company products with world-class component support during their entire product cycle.
We are currently looking for mechanical component manager.
Your role will be:

  • Join the Obsolescence and Component Management team operating within our Product Lifecycle Management activities.
  • Enhance current operating system fully settled in specific electronics areas into mechanical (and potentially other) parts portfolio to get non-electronic components under monitoring and control.
  • Set up cooperation frame with partners mainly from R&D and Sourcing departments to monitor existing state and define follow-on needs, goals and steps.
  • Specify requirements for a database needed to provide appropriate management platform.
  • Build and deploy component management processes, workflows and database(s) to ensure consolidated pool of components.
  • Identify ways and actions to prevent and resolve issues resulting from limited availability of external components (obsolescence management of mechanical parts).
  • Monitoring current and future trends in mechanical engineering materials (fasteners) and components, support to R&D designers with standardized items deployed in a database and supervision of database items portfolio optimization.
  • Secure continuous processing of database content change requests coming from end users.
  • Close cooperation with company standardization committees and councils.
  • Participate on world-wide Component/Obsolescence Management and global Change and Configuration Management activities, projects, programs and strategic planning.
  • Drive related process development across the organization.

Requirements:

Critical-to-success:

  • Primarily looking for experienced engineering professional however ambitious graduate might be considered for this role too.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken to be able to maintain cooperation with peers and management representatives from other European and US sites.
  • Strong candidate’s technical background, capable of reading technical documentation, understand BOMs (Bills of Material), drawings, schematics and layout materials.
  • High level of critical thinking with focus on system level and ability to understand impacts generated by taken actions.
  • Capacity to drive cross-department and cross-functional cooperation and corresponding communication skills.
  • Ability to work in team, participate on shared tasks and delegate work.
  • Orientation in materials metals, alloys, magnetic behavior).
  • CAD systems (NX, SolidWorks).
  • Willingness to travel (European region and potentially worldwide) up to 15% of working time.

Nice-to-have:

  • Bachelor of science/engineering university education level, mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Previous work experience from multi-national organization, ability to work within organizational structure and processed workflows.
  • General product life cycle awareness.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management CMII standard (eventually certification).
  • Orientation in component databases.
  • Experience with leading projects.
  • Broader exposure to NX CAD software.
  • Previous experience with any PDM platform, especially Siemens TeamCenter.
