  • Modeling and testing of suitable materials for electron microscopy detectors. Model based validation of electron interactions and its practical evaluation on TEM systems
  • Definition of experiments for detector improvements and its realization
  • Evaluation of electron and light optics for TEM detector usacases
  • Validation of detector specifications and its theoretical calculations


  • A master’s or a PhD in Physics, Solid State Physics, Physical Engineering or a related area
  • Desire to learn and expand her/his understanding of detector priciple and underlying physics at a deeper level – both analytical and numerical
  • Solid mathematical and physical background
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team

Advantageous but not required:

  • Experience with electron microscopes, especially TEMs
  • Knowledge of detector principles and its specifications
  • Experience with basic image processing
  • Ability to program in Python or C++
  • General technological overview
