Job Description:

The primary focus of the Engineer Operations is to provide technical support in order to enable efficient solutions to problems in Manufacturing and Supply chain. The position closely interfaces with various ThermoFisher functions to solve complex problems and to ensure that system specifications are met in compliance with ThermoFisher’s requirements for product shipment to customers.


  • Provide input or participate in NPI projects according to PMP, MDP, MDM process.
  • Provide technical product sustaining support from product release into manufacturing through end of service
  • Design of changes in mechanical parts or modules
  • Participate in all operations engineering activities related to electronics & high tension
  • Checking and archiving of technical documentation
  • Provide technical support to the factory, to ensure that ThermoFisher capable of shipping quality products on-time to its customers
  • Conduct detailed troubleshooting & analysis of system or component level problems that affect reliability, performance, etc. This includes the use of statistical analysis, 7-Step Problem Solving or other established methods
  • Support the supply chain with engineering expertise. This includes the analysis of parts for reliability, manufacturability, vendor qualification support and supplier technical quality issues
  • Perform hands-on assembly, testing and training of personnel as required during project work (i.e., assembly, test or measurement, troubleshooting)
  • Support Field Service/GTS with product escalations as necessary. May require some on-site support at customers


General requirements:

  • University degree in a technical discipline, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills
  • Willingness to work in high-tech industry manufacturing environment
  • Ability to create technical documentation and engineering reports using common Microsoft Office and Acrobat applications
  • Ability to plan and resolve issues that involve gaining cooperation of cross-functional, multi-cultural groups and sites without damaging relationships.
  • Must be able to work for extended period in clean room environment
  • Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required (up to 25% of working time)
  • Fluent in English and local language (verbal and in writing)
  • Written and verbal communication skills

Specific requirements:

  • Master's Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or physical engineering
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles, material engineering and knowledge of CAD (NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Ability to participate in technical debates and solve technical problems as a team member of the project.
