SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER (Image processing)

In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of ZIKA virus, HIV, and they also enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

What projects you will work on:

• Participate in a number of New Product Development projects.
• Contribute to the integration of complex new hardware and software on existing prototype systems. Takes on challenging development tasks.
• Define and execute test plans for new complex hardware/software, and document results.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, provide designers with feedback and suggest improvements to existing prototypes.
• Maintain a small number of R&D prototype setups in the best possible working condition to facilitate development work, software releases, customer demos etc.
• Take responsibility for the safety (X-ray, electronics, mechanical) around the designated prototype setups. Take routine measurements of the X-ray emission levels and document the results.
• Communicate frequently with project leaders on progress, technical issues and suggest alternative solutions. Also frequently communicates with OE, GTS and manufacturing project members to provide them with necessary input. Demonstrates proactive attitude within projects.
• Provide input during the specification and design phase of new products.
• Routinely documents test results in emails, reports and DMS in English.
• Transfers knowledge to OE, GTS and manufacturing partners.

Who do we look for:

• Education: Typically a university degree - physics, physical engineering, mechatronics, electronics, or other related field.
• Knowledge of specialized methods, techniques and processes is required, gained by 'on the job' experience.
• Experience with programming (Python) is preferable advantage.
• Completes tasks in a resourceful and effective way.
• Conceptual thinking becomes important.
• Interaction with other people is aimed at understanding, supporting and influencing them.
• Professional reasoning is required.
• Uses sound judgment within well-defined procedures to determine appropriate action. Makes recommendations for solutions and improvements.
