SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - MASS SPECTROMETRY

ENGINEERING, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of Covid-19 virus or enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

Your responsibilities:

  • We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our design team to develop novel mass spectrometers and associated products.
  • You will collaborate with a broad team of engineers and scientists researching new technologies and bringing them to market. Your contribution will make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design components, assemblies, and processes used by the scientific instruments industry.
  • Apply these efforts coupled with knowledge of mechanical engineering and design, to proof-of-concept experiments, new product development, and product enhancements.

You need to possess:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of work experience.
  • Experience in 3D solid modeling: Solidworks preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical designs for vacuum and ultra high vacuum systems.
  • Experience in conceptualizing innovative and creative designs.
  • Experience with electrostatic and RF ion optics.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality product designs.
  • Participate in developing requirements and designing to them.
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in a fast paced, global environment.
  • Ability to work with senior engineers to understand and solve complex design challenges as part of a larger design team.
  • Possess working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing processes (i.e. casting, forging, machining, injection molding, 3D printing, etc.)
