In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of ZIKA virus, HIV, and they also enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

The Job:

As a Product Lifecycle Manager – Accessories you will be responsible to manage released 3rd party accessories from Operations & Service perspective for all Electron Microscopy (EM) product lines in the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD). The position is based in Brno (Czech Republic) and part of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team within global Engineering.

Your goal will be to drive sustainable and profitable products an provide insights for operational, tactical and strategical business decisions. Your challenge will be to support a vast product portfolio spanning multiple product lines, manufacturing sites and suppliers. What will you do?

  • Manage the complete Product Life Cycle of outsourced or 3rd party accessories for all Electron Microscopy (EM) product lines with specific focus from product release through its end-of-service.
  • Scope, develop plans and support future product integrations from product lifecycle management perspective.
  • Determine and drive the right priorities based on holistic analysis of the producibility/ serviceability/ reliability/ sustainability and profitability of the products during the entire product life cycle; insights and guidance based on facts.
  • Initiate, define and negotiate improvement projects within Operations, R&D, Service and Supply Chain. Improvement projects may relate to customer satisfaction, manufacturability, serviceability, sustainability (obsolescence), value engineering, quality and reliability.
  • Initiate, define, negotiate and direct End of Production or End of Service projects within the product portfolio.
  • Develop and cultivate close relationships with multiple stakeholders and departments (BUs, R&D, Engineering, Service, Logistics, Sourcing, Quality etc).
  • If required, lead activities/projects related to your portfolio.

How will you get here? (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • University degree in a technical discipline (Physics, Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Material Science, etc) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
  • Typically requires 10+ years of experience working in a high-tech industry environment (in Engineering, R&D, Technical Support or Product Management), of which 5+ years in a senior position.
  • Technical understanding of high-tech analytical equipment, preferably electron microscopy equipment.
  • Proven business process knowledge, business acumen and project management skills.
  • Strong cross-functional influencing, communication and negotiation skills. Fluent in English.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills: Decision making based on broad band of information and data.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, including communication with multiple levels of management in English.
  • Self-directed and goal-oriented team player.
  • Hands-on mentality: you love complex problems and strive to get things done.
  • Ability to travel (less than 15%).
