The Service Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will provide complete services on Surface Analysis XPS systems including installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site installation of complex XPS Surface Analysis equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order
  • Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits
  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users and company personnel
  • Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Is responsible to share technical knowledge within the service team. Train and guide new engineers if required
  • Optimize own work schedule by coordinating with all the necessary partners for service planning/scheduling
  • Resolve difficult and escalated repairs and advises on hot account resolution


  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Sciences or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer is preferred, or experience in test and calibration particularly of XPS or analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with vacuum, X-rays and complex analytical instruments
  • Strong and logical problem solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work across all levels, functions and regions
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities
  • Excellent inter-personal, self-motivational and negotiating skills
  • Hands-on experience with XPS instrumentation preferred
  • Willingness to travel within the appointed region but as well through EMEA
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be available to travel on a daily basis. Overnight travel typically Mon –Fri, more than 50% of weeks
