In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of ZIKA virus, HIV, and they also enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

Your responsibilities:

  • Perform system (SW, applications, instrument) testing and evaluation, provide test plans and consolidated test reports.
  • Feed R&D team and Product portfolio group with information and customer feedback.
  • Maintain and nurture pool of expertise in large volume analysis techniques (technology, methodology) for all markets.
  • Work on collaboration projects with external partners.
  • Deliver scientific and other publications (best practice documents, white papers, conference abstracts, application notes, user manual).
  • Prepare and execute demos, customer jobs, customer training.
  • Manage customer samples, data and related information.
  • Create, plan, and conduct experiments to apply advanced applications knowledge on company Systems for assigned markets
  • Recommend and advise on technical direction for potential applications or use of products consistent with customer requirements and feasibility.
  • Deliver cutting edge, specific marketing and sales collateral to the Product Marketing group for incorporation into marketing, sales training and sales material.
  • Translate customer needs into workable solutions and technical specification.
  • Act as ‘Equipment Owner’, keep equipment in job-ready condition and escalate problems.
  • Work in compliance with legislation and IMS.

You need to possess:

  • This position is ideal for an engineer/scientist with background in material or life science. The position is appropriate for a candidate with 2 - 7 years of experience in a relevant commercial/research/production establishment with recent experience utilizing FIB/SEM.
  • PhD or MSc in Material Science, Life Science, Physics or equivalent in experience
  • Knowledge of EDS would be strong advantage.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in the team.
  • Demonstrated experience of using software in complex products with extensive hardware interactions.
  • Knowledge of advanced technology and diagnostics as well as operational optimization experience of analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of scripting would be an advantage.
  • Strong communicative skills (both verbal and written).
  • Result oriented, ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to write (scientific) papers and other publications.
  • Ability to interact with cross - functional and cross - cultural teams.
  • Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally and possession of a valid passport.
  • Language skills (English), willing to learn Czech.
