MODULE ARCHITECT - ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of ZIKA virus, HIV, and they also enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

As a Module Architect, you will work with a group of enthusiastic professionals that strive to continuously improve their next generation TEM products and workflows. You combine focus, technical vision and the ability to overview several complex projects in a cross-disciplinary setting. You will get a large influence not only at the start of the project by guiding conceptual designs and setting specifications but also by monitoring projects and motivating & inspiring engineers.

Your responsibilities:

  • Translate system requirements into module requirements and decompose these to module architecture, modules design and sub modules.
  • Works in multi-disciplinary teams for product realization, i.e. initial alignment of specifications with other architects and subject matter experts, later on integration of the module into the system.
  • Lead the design team to develop new concepts, implementing the specifications. Support, steer and motivate internal and external designers(suppliers).
  • Setup of experiments to investigate detailed behavior of designs or their implementation.
  • Communication & documentation of own & teamwork, through presentations & reports.
  • Is in touch with suppliers and provides technical supervision for outsourced projects. Maintains good technical relationship with key suppliers.
  • Works with management to ensure a robust platform and development process. Promote effective and architectural design approach between product lines.
  • Acts as a senior peer to more junior colleagues and provides guidance in technical area.

You need to possess:

  • You have a Masters/ PhD or equivalent in mechanical, mechatronics, cryogenic, system/ motion control or a combination that shows the relevant expertise.
  • Typically +7 years experience in a technical lead role with proven experience in module developments, including defining architecture, module design, integration, verification, error budgeting, and analysis.
  • Ability to work in complex engineering programs and to understand the technology included our products. Experience with low volume – high mix product series.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and resolve issues that involve gaining cooperation of cross-functional, multi-cultural groups and sites.
  • Experience in development of several products from concept to final product into the market and maintenance.
  • Gets results, even under difficult situations and is creative (finds better/alternative ways)
  • Fluent in English.
